EMG – Nerve Testing

Electrodiagnostic medicine is the study of diseases of the nerves and muscles. Most often, your physician has recommended a nerve conduction study and/or EMG test to determine if your muscles and nerves are working as they should. The results of the tests will help your doctor decide what is wrong and what management plan is most appropriate.

An electroencephalogram (EEG) is a test that detects electrical activity in your brain using metal discs (electrodes) that are attached to your scalp. These electrodes record the electrical signals that brain cells use to communicate with each other. An EEG records these signals as wavy lines, allowing them to be interpreted by a neurologist as part of a detailed diagnostic process.
